Do you know the different types of fluff fabrics—velvet, flannel, etc.? Today, we—Aung Crown, a professional custom baseball hat maker founded in 1998 – will introduce four types of fluff fabrics in detail.
1. Velvet
Raw materials: natural silk and cotton.
Jingdezhen velvet is named after its origin in the Zhangzhou region of Fujian Province, China. It has been produced in large quantities since the Ming Dynasty and is one of China’s traditional fabrics. The raw material for velvet is grade 22 to 30 cocoon silk, and silk is also used for the warp and cotton yarn for the weft to weave the “ground”. The pile loops are made of silk or artificial silk. The warp and the weft are degummed or partially degummed, dyed, twisted, and then woven.
2. Gold Velvet
Raw materials: natural sick and viscose (cotton treated with chemicals)
Gold velvet is a single-layer warp pile fabric woven from mulberry silk and viscose rayon. The pile is dense with long, slightly slanting hairs, although not as smooth as other velvet types. It is often used for women’s clothing, curtains, and decorative items. Velvet fabric has a silky and resilient feel, making it quite luxurious for clothing. Although it may shed some fibers, it remains soft and skin-friendly after washing.
3. Flannel
Raw materials: cotton, wool, synthetic fibers.
Flannel, a word derived from imported words, is a soft and velvety woolen fabric made from coarsely carded woolen yarns. Flannel was invented in Wales, Great Britain. In China, flannel typically refers to a coarsely woven fabric made of mixed-colour carded wool yarns, with a mottled style. It has a layer of full, fine down that covers the weave, giving it a soft and smooth texture. The body of the fabric is slightly thinner than Melton’s. Flannel has a clean and elegant color palette, a high weight per square meter, and a fine, dense pile. The fabric is thick, expensive, and has good insulating properties.
4. Dralon Fabric
What is dralon fabric? It’s a chemical fabric that can be made up of complex fabrics. In general, dralon fabric is mainly made up of acrylic blended with proper spandex and polyester. Of course, it can also be combined with viscose to make it breathable.
